Oliver Yang’s extraordinary talent is revealed in his book Photography & Poetry • 2021 which showcases the City of Markham, its rich heritage, culture and nature, combined with captivating scenery. Like Oliver, I am a proud Markham resident and I have had the honour of serving as Mayor for more than 18 years. Oliver’s photos immediately impressed me. Through his lens, you get a glimpse of a lesser-seen side of our beautiful city and what it has to offer. The simple yet elegant compositions, accompanied by poetry, underscores why Markham is home to a growing vibrant and diverse community.

It is my honor to have this opportunity to write this Forward for my good friend Oliver Yang.
I have known Oliver Yang for over 10 years and he has been an amazing photographer no matter the topic is landscape, portrait or object. He is a very talented individual who can capture the very essence of the subject and display a very distinctive character through his lens. I had the privilege to have Oliver Yang took my family portrait and the result was outstanding.

My book, OLIVER YANG Photography & Poetry 2021, is published. The photography is from my camera, but really it comes from my heart.
